We had the bittersweet honor of being the last guests to stay here. It was as always fabulous. We'll miss staying here and swapping tales with Joe, and wish him all the best!

I wish I could give six stars. It was that good. Joe and Linda are special people and I consider myself and my family extremely lucky for having had the chance to meet them. Much love from the Baka's.

My husband and I were guests at the Inn in October, and we found Joe, Linda and Mark very welcoming. In fact, they made us feel as if we were family! We enjoyed sharing the breakfast table with such kind and loving folks! We look forward to our next visit!

My best friend and I just got back home from a night in Tobe's cabin and I am so impressed with this family and the amazing things they are doing around their town. We decided to book a trip last minute to go hiking and were having trouble finding a place that would allow a one night stay. We tend to visit this area once or twice a year to stay, and had somehow never stumbled across this place. When I called to inquire about one night, Linda gladly accepted. The bed and breakfast looked amazing, but we were looking for something a little more private and boy did they come through. They typically only rent Tobe's cabin for 2 nights but with it being so soon, they happily took us in. When pulling in, we were in awe of the things Joe and Linda have accomplished on this property. If you haven't read the history of this place, you should really check it out. Joe and his wife were there to greet us and show us around, as well as give us some more of the history of how the place came to be. You can't help but know that you are staying in a truly special place made by a man who had an amazing passion for what he is doing. We hiked until around dinner time, grabbed a pizza and headed back to the cabin. Knowing that we were on a trip looking for peace and relaxation, our privacy was fully respected. After dinner, we thought we would go out and start a fire, only to see that these thoughtful folks had already made one for us. We never laid eyes on anyone else all evening. We were also close to a campground that had a live band and fireworks. It was close enough that you could hear it out by the fire, but far enough away that you didn't hear it inside of the cabin. In all, we had an amazing trip and we will be back to this property without a doubt!

This just might be the closest place there is to heaven. Stayed in the cabin for 2 nights. Breakfast with Linda on their back patio my first morning, wonderful lady to sit and have a conversation with!! Breakfast on Saturday morning with Joe and Linda and another guest was quite a treat as well. Joe and Linda are sweet, loving people. Can't wait to get back to see them and enjoy their fabulous little retreat!!

We LOVE staying with Joe! The love he puts into everything he does really stays with you. This is my family's home away from home, and we've been back at least 12 times since we discovered this gem a few years ago. I have never stayed in a place as special as this one. We'll be back soon, Joe and Linda!

My wife and I had a wonderful time. Joe and Linda were great hosts, allowing us to relax and unwind, which was the main purpose of our visit. We stayed 3 nights, and the large, comfortable rooms allowed for a good nights sleep. We woke each morning to the smell of coffee and bacon. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Joe regaled us with stories of his bike rides and stilt walks across the country. We could not have asked for anything more.

We were so lucky to find Bowen Farm Bed and Breakfast as a stop during our trip between Washington, DC and Lexington, KY! We enjoyed learning about the history of the home and property from the owner, John. Four of us stayed the night in "Tobe's Cabin", right off the old barn. We enjoyed reading the books about all John's adventures (and world records!), and soaking in the history via hot tub on the back deck of the barn. We really wish we had more time to stay and explore this beautiful part of the country. John had many exciting stories to tell us, and sent us to the nearby Red River Gorge (amazing!). It was such a spectacular landscape to visit. We truly enjoyed our visit in eastern Kentucky and can't want to go visit John again!

We happened upon Bowen Farm Bed and Breakfast from a google search and I am so happy we did! I only wish we would have had more then one night to spend with them. Joe built this beautiful home himself from reclaimed wood he collected over the years, there is a door and mantel from the 1790's many other pieces from the 1800's. Joe has accomplished many things in his life, we loved hearing the stories about his travels. Joe and Linda were great hosts and served a delicious breakfast. This place goes down as one of my favorite B&B's and one I hope to return to.

Joe Biwen. Not only a great story teller, but a historian and amateur sleuth who makes sure the details and data are correct before he shares the history!! His hands built his B n B, his heart opens it to all who tred in the worn stunning wood floors. To like this place and its country peacefulness is a massive understatement. One quite simply loves it... And the incredible man who shares it...

This is a warm and welcoming B&B. The home is constructed of recycled wood and has genuine character in design. Joe runs the place on his own and we were fortunate to meet him and enjoy his company for the evening. Joe cooks you breakfast in the morning and it's very apparent he truly enjoys hosting guests.

Carl McKenzie Room

Starting From $115 / Night

The rooms namesake comes from Carl McKenzie a local folk artist Born in 1905 whom passed in 1998. He was originally from Wolfe County, Kentucky and lived in Nada, Kentucky. Our introduction to Carl McKenzies’s work, like so many other artists in our collection, was through Arthur Jones and his gallery, Art Jones Gallery. We purchased several of McKenzie’s colorful, patterned painted figures, “Sue,” a “Hunter,” and a “Student” dated 1986, 1986, and 1987, during the period between 1988-1990. Learn more information and see some of his original creations at: http://www.intuoutsiderart.com/cMcKenzie.html.
